Theater Policies

Special Needs Seating:
A number of wheelchair and companion seats are available at the Playhouse. If you are in need of special seating, please notify the box office when making your purchase.

Assisted Listening Devices:
A limited number of infrared listening devices are available through the box office on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be asked to leave a form of identification as a deposit when you pick up the device.

Young Patrons:
The Playhouse believes that theater should be a part of every young person’s life. However, not all productions are appropriate for all ages. Please use your own discretion when bringing younger audience members to the theater. The box office is happy to answer any questions you may have about age appropriateness. Regardless of age, all patrons must be ticketed; there is no lap seating. It is Playhouse policy that children under four are not permitted at any performance, except the Family Festivities and Holiday Programs.

Parking:
Parking is available free to patrons of the Playhouse. Parking is at your own risk, and the Playhouse will not be held liable for damage to or theft of your vehicle or its contents. As parking is limited, please arrive early and carpool when possible.

Late Seating:
All performances start promptly at the time listed on your ticket. Patrons arriving late to the performance will be seated by the House Manager at his or her discretion. Latecomers may be seated in locations other than those for which they hold tickets.

Left Orchestra Sign – Kathleen O’RourkePhones:
For the enjoyment of all patrons, please silence all cell phones and electronic devices while in the theater. If you use your phone at intermission, please remember to silence it for the remainder of the performance. The use of cell phones in the theater is prohibited. Patrons using cell phones during a performance will be asked to leave the theater. Texting during a performance is expressly prohibited.

Smoking:
Smoking is prohibited everywhere in the theater, lobbies, porches, and stairways. Please dispose of extinguished cigarettes in appropriate receptacles.

Photography:
The use of photographic or recording devices is strictly prohibited.

Emergency Contact:
If you need to provide babysitters or others an emergency contact during a performance, please give them the House Manager’s office phone number, (203) 227- 5137 x 165.

Restrooms:
Ladies’ rooms are located on both the orchestra and mezzanine levels of the theater, just to the side of the grand staircase. The men’s room is located at the top of the grand staircase on the mezzanine level. There is an elevator located at the lower level of the orchestra lobby, which may be used to reach the mezzanine level. All restrooms are ADA compliant. Water fountains are located outside the restrooms on both levels of the theater.

Concessions:
A variety of food and beverages are available for purchase at our concessions areas at the Playhouse. There is a concession stand in the orchestra level of the lobby and, in the summer only, one in the gazebo in the garden. All sales are cash only. Please be aware that food and drink are prohibited inside the theater, with the exception of bottled water.

Lost & Found:
If you have lost or found an item, please see the box office. The Playhouse is not responsible for loss or theft of personal belongings.
