Meet the 2017 Interns

Dixon Graham
Dixon is from Charleston, SC and will be graduating from Clemson University in May 2018 with a BA in Production Studies in Performing Arts, with a Theatre Concentration and a Music Minor, as well as a BS in Marketing. She has dreamed of working in theater from a young age, and is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Westport Country Playhouse. This internship is helping pave the way for her future career, and she couldn't be happier to be spending her summer as a member of the Westport community.

Nathan Francis

Company Management
Nathan is thrilled to be a part of Westport Country Playhouse’s season as the company management intern! A native of Westport, Nathan is currently attending the University of Connecticut as a Theatre Studies Major. He is concentrating in directing, but also has multiple credits in playwriting, stage management, and dramaturgy. Much of his body of work is through Connecticut Repertory Theatre, the producing arm of the Dramatic Arts department at UConn. CRT credits include Nuevo California (Stage Manager), Twelfth NightLysistrata (ASM), EurydiceSpamalot (Assistant Director), and Sense and Sensibility (Dramaturg) Other credits include UConn Department Series: Novecento (Assistant Director) and Staples Players: Don’t Drink the Water and Third Wheel (Director). Nathan is excited to grow and learn this summer by making connections with various WCP staff and artists and learning more about the administrative and production side of non-profit theater.

Rebecca Nichols

Stage Management
Rebecca Nichols is an Equity Membership Candidate Stage Manager. She is a senior at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL graduating in December. After graduation she will be accepting her Equity Card at TheatreZone in Naples, FL. Her time at Westport Country Playhouse is extremely helpful in fostering a great learning environment that will allow her to further her career and gain valuable knowledge of her craft.

Page Tazewell

Stage Management

Page Tazewell, a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, receiving her BFA in Technical Theatre with a concentration in Stage Management. She is originally from Norfolk, Virginia but has moved around the world for most of her childhood. At the close of her internship at Westport she will be continuing on as the Production Assistant for Appropriate. She is especially excited about this next step because of the kind and generous staff at the Playhouse

James Allen
Scenic Painting/Props
James is from central Arkansas and is a rising senior at University of the Ozarks, in Clarksville Arkansas and he will be receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre degree in May of 2018. Theater is his passion, he has a love for the creation of theater that nothing else in his life matches. When it came time to decide a field of study James chose theater because he knew that he will always be an artist, but if he didn’t pursue his love of theater he would regret it for the rest of his life. He is so grateful to be at the Westport Country Playhouse because he has a chance to connect with professionals who have the experience in this field and ask questions to further his professional development.

Shana Struble

Technical Direction/Carpentry
Shana Struble was born and raised in Aledo, IL. She is going into her senior year at Harding University in Searcy, AR and will be graduating with a BA in Theatre in May 2018. After graduating, she is planning to go on to pursue a career in technical direction and stage automation. Since starting at the Playhouse as the Carpentry/ATD intern, she has been enamored with the history of the playhouse and with the quality of connections she has been able to cultivate.

Dana Smooke

Dana “Danny” Smooke (Woodbridge, CT) is a rising senior at Yale University where she is pursuing a major in Theatre Studies. At Yale she is primarily a costume designer whose credits include The Pillowman, Lysistrata, Hello Again, 1776, and The Mystery of Irma Vep. Over the last year Danny has explored directing - she’s hooked. She had her directing debut in fall 2016 with The Mystery of Irma Vep. Since then, she has directed a reading of an original play for the 2017 Yale Playwright’s Festival, and directed the Yale Dramatic Association Commencement Musical, Shrek the Musical. In the fall she will be production designing William Shakespeare’s Macb... (does this count as a theater space? Most likely) “The Scottish Play.” Danny has dabbled in just about every area of theater (and loves them all!) and likes to consider herself a Swiss Army Knife of theater: she doesn’t just do one thing. She would like to thank Westport Country Playhouse for all the incredible experiences she’s had this summer, and for introducing her to some of the most talented and friendly people with whom she’s ever had the pleasure of working. She would also like to thank her mother for encouraging her to “investigate” WCP, and without whom she never would have discovered her passion for the theater.

Claire Josselyn

Box Office/Front of House

Claire is from Richmond, VA and recently graduated from Hollins University with a degree in Theatre and an Arts Administration Certificate. Claire got involved in theater since High School as a way to meet new people and hasn’t looked back since! She enjoys the teamwork involved in theater and how everyone comes together to create a single, beautiful show, and is incredibly happy to be working at the Playhouse this summer.
