Ms. Booker is an actor/playwright whose play THE BOOTHEEL was a semi-finalist at the 2021 O’Neill Playwrights Conference and the Garry Marshall New Works Festival. A monologue from her solo show, SHE’S ALIVE! won the Alvin Epstein Solo Performance “Audience Favorite” award in 2022. Since then, she has performed SHE’S ALIVE!, (based on the life and music of the Bride of Frankenstein herself, Elsa Lanchester), at Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, the Laurie Beechman in NYC, and the Venus Cabaret in Chicago. Plans are underway for a Los Angeles production.
Her other plays include CRYBABY BRIDGE and EAST PRAIRIE (two-thirds of the BOOTHEEL trilogy), BITCH (based on the autobiography of Lady May Lawford), BIG LIPSTICK LADY (a solo piece), and SHE WHO HESITATES and THE AGE THING (both one-acts). She’s currently working on a new piece called THE HAUNTING OF A FORMER MOONSHINER.
As an actor, Ms. Booker understudied Madeline Kahn in the Broadway revival of BORN YESTERDAY, appeared off-Broadway in TAKE ME BACK, LEAVE ME GREEN, FUGUE, FIVE GENOCIDES, DEATHBED, PSYCHO BEACH PARTY, and the aforementioned BITCH. She has played leading roles at the Long Wharf, Williamstown, Yale Rep, Hartford Stage, The Old Globe, The Alley, Baltimore Center Stage, Denver Center, and the Papermill, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati Playhouses, among others.
Ms. Booker was Honey, the perfect 50’s sitcom wife, in the 90’s cult series HI HONEY, I’M HOME; played Maggie Chambers in four seasons of POWER; and guest-/co-starred on BLUEBLOODS, THE JIM GAFFIGAN SHOW, BOARDWALK EMPIRE, LAW AND ORDER, CI, LARRY SANDERS, MURPHY BROWN, DREW CAREY, NEWSRADIO, CHICAGO HOPE, and many more.
She currently divides her time between New York City and Evanston, Illinois.
