Our Literary Salon series will include a pre-show salon with featured authors and lively discussion followed by a performance of a Playhouse production. This series will provide an opportunity to interact with prominent authors and explore ideas and themes which will enrich the theater-going experience. Books Worth Talking About is a partnership between Westport Country Playhouse and Meryl L. Moss Media Relations.
Room Service, a comedy about show biz and the early days of Broadway is reminiscent of Rogers’ stellar background. As the author of How to Make It in Showbiz (A Survival Guide) her illustrious career spanned several decades as an actress, singer, dancer, director and choreographer. At the salon she will discuss how theater has changed since the days when “Room Service” was first staged and about how to survive in the business. Walker, who has appeared at the White House, will captivate audiences with her experiences on Broadway with such legends as Dick Van Dyke and Bert Lahr; television appearances with Ed Sullivan, Steve Allen and Jackie Gleason; and nightclub acts with Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.
Carole Claps, a former public relations and marketing director at Westport Country Playhouse for more than a decade, as well as the Hartman Theatre Company, has worked with Rogers on several productions, will moderate this salon, which is sponsored by Catamount Wealth Management and is the creative collaboration of the Playhouse and Westport-based international literary publicity firm Meryl L. Moss Media Relations, Inc.
The Literary Salon is free and open to all but please RSVP through the Playhouse Box Office. Subscribers can call the Box Office to exchange their tickets at 203-227-4177.
