Interview with Mark Lamos
Westport Country Playhouse

Mark Lamos, formerly an actor and currently a director of plays, musicals, and operas, is the new artistic director at Westport Country Playhouse. After an early career as a stage actor, he appeared in the film Longtime Companion. As artistic director at Hartford Stage for seventeen years, Lamos accepted, in 1989, that regional theater's Tony Award. On Broadway, he has directed Our Country's Good, Cymbeline, Seascape, The Rivals, The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm and The Deep Blue Sea. He directed Madame Butterfly for New York City Opera and that production garnered an Emmy Award when televised on PBS. Lamos has directed four productions for the Metropolitan Opera.
