"Tick, tick...BOOM!" coming to Westport Country Playhouse
'tick...tick...BOOM!' tells Jonathan Larson's story prior to Broadway hit

Before he wrote "Rent," Jonathan Larson created an autobiographical piece called "tick, tick...BOOM!" about his own career dreams and life anxieties as he approached his 30th birthday.
Larson performed the material as a solo piece around New York City, but after the great success of "Rent" in 1996 -- and the 35-year-old creator's tragic death just before it opened -- the earlier show was revised and expanded as a piece for three actor/singers by director Scott Schwartz and writer David Auburn.
"tick, tick...BOOM!" was a hit in New York and Los Angeles and the show has been presented by colleges and regional theaters all over the country.
The original director Scott Schwartz has returned for a new production that opens at the Westport Country Playhouse on Tuesday.
