The Time Is Right
Off-Broadway producer Scott Schwartz put together the first production of the reconfigured tick, tick...BOOM!, and he's now visiting the Westport Country Playhouse to direct its run of Jonathon Larson's autobiographical musical, which went largely unnoticed when Larson performed it as a one-man show in the early '90s. After Larson's Rent become a huge posthumous hit, Schwartz and others looked into his back catalogue and found this gem about an unaccomplished performing artist dreading his 30th birthday. It was redone as a three-person show and has made its way to theater groups across the country.
