Brian Letendre

Brian Letendre joined Westport Country Playhouse as Director of Development in October 2026. He brings a performer’s devotion to this stage and a lifelong habit of bringing people together. If you have met him in the lobby, you already know he would rather hear your Playhouse story than tell his own.

His story begins in New York. He started dancing at thirteen, at LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and the School of American Ballet. By his senior year he had won a YoungArts award and was one of twenty-four dancers in the world admitted to The Juilliard School. He went from Juilliard straight to Broadway and stayed thirteen years. He originated Baby Boy in Urban Cowboy. He played James in Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out. He was Neleus in the original Broadway company of Disney’s Mary Poppins. On screen, he appears in Across the Universe and HBO’s The Other Two.

Then, as every dancer does, he began his second act. He moved into New York City real estate, closed more than $40 million in sales, and crossed over to the executive side as Director of Productivity at BOND New York. He is also a professor at Pace University and is finishing an MBA in Business Analytics at Pace’s Lubin School of Business.

He and his husband, the actor Stephen Mark Lukas, first visited Westport in 2016, when Stephen played Lancelot in the Playhouse’s Camelot. They moved here in 2022 and are thrilled to have put down roots in a community with such high regard for the arts!
