Greg Naughton

Greg Naughton is a singer-songwriter and founding member of folk-rock group The Sweet Remains (2007 to current), who are the very rare all independent band to have 50 million Spotify plays to date. Greg is also an accomplished actor, producer and director, having founded the Obie-winning Off-Broadway theater group, Blue Light Theater Company. Greg served as Artistic director from 1996 to 2001, overseeing six seasons and 16 mainstage productions, including Dare Clubb’s Oedipus starring Frances McDormand & Billy Crudup, and Clifford Odets’s Waiting For Lefty starring Marisa Tomei, directed by Joanne Woodward. Greg left Blue Light in 2001 to focus on his music career and touring, but has continued to act, write and direct for TV, film and theater projects along the way, most recently writing and directing his first feature film The Independents — a musical comedy/ drama inspired by his experiences in the music business and with his bandmates of The Sweet Remains. The movie premiered at the Santa Barbara Int’l Film Festival where the Hollywood Reporter hailed it “An extremely engaging film (with) an unconventional and sharply written script that proves there are plenty of offbeat ways to satisfy audiences without hewing to formula.” It went on to win awards and plaudits at many top U.S. film festivals and will make its general release in March of 2021.
