Mark Shanahan has appeared at Westport Country Playhouse as a performer in Around the World in 80 Days, Tryst, Sedition, David Copperfield, Journey’s End, and over 20 Script in Hand playreadings. He is co-curator with Anne Keefe of the Playhouse’s Script in Hand series. As a writer, Mark is the author of the Off-Broadway and regional hit comedy, The Dingdong: Or How The French Kiss and A Merry Little Christmas Carol, as well as the stage adaptation of The Chronology Protection Case (Edgar Award nominee) and another holiday play, A Sherlock Carol. He is the playwright and director of the highly acclaimed White Heron Radio Theatre Ghost Light Series (found on NPR’s WNCK, Spotify, iTunes and other major audio platforms), featuring original radio drama performed by renowned Broadway actors.
As a director, his work has been seen nationally at such theaters as The Alley, Virginia Stage, Irish Rep, Mile Square Theatre, White Heron Theatre, George Street Playhouse, Theatre Squared, Florida Rep, Florida Studio Theatre, Penguin Rep, Merrimack Rep, Orlando Shakespeare Festival, The Cape Playhouse and others.
As a performer on the New York stage, Mark has appeared in Broadway’s The 39 Steps and Philadelphia, Here I Come! and Off-Broadway in Tryst, Small World, The Shaugraun, Checkers, As Bees in Honey Drown, and more. He has performed on numerous regional stages including The Alley Theatre, The Pioneer, The Fulton Opera House, The Kennedy Center, The Denver Centre, Hartford Theatreworks, White Heron Theatre and others.
