Mia is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Westport, where she was lucky to grow up receiving the finest arts education around. One of her fondest memories is of playing Annie in Annie Get Your Gun at the Westport Country Playhouse theatre in 8th grade via the Music Theatre of Connecticut. Mia Gentile spent 5 years in the Broadway cast of Kinky Boots (ensemble and u/s Lauren), impersonated many a diva in Forbidden Broadway, and can be heard on the original cast album of Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging!, originating the “Let It Blow” sketch. She has toured with Scot Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox and was a soloist in concert with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and the Winston-Salem Symphony singing the songs of Rent, La Boheme, and Moulin Rouge under conductor Robert Moody. Mia was also interviewed by Jerry Seinfeld on ABC’s Good Morning America for her viral YouTube video “The Stanley Steemer Variations.” Mia and her collaborator Roger Klug created a two-person band called MISSYFIT and have released music on all streaming music platforms. Her favorite roles include Maureen in Rent, Margy in Mae West’s play Sex, and Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel (with the New Paradigm Theatre and the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra ). She will be back in CT next month to play Marian in NPT/NSO’s production of The Music Man (February 10th).
Mia has a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and is gratefully represented by Avalon Artists Group. Mia is also an avid meditator and voice teacher. For more info, visit www.themiagentile.com.
