In thinking about what Junior Script in Hand to do this summer, I found myself lost in memories of my own childhood. I kept picturing the hallways of my middle school, my red glasses, and more than a few unfortunate 1980’s fashion choices. But more than that, the memories that kept flooding my mind, were of my middle school production of Peter Pan. I had the incredible good fortune of being cast in the title role. Dressed in green tights, green ballet shoes, and a green felt tunic, I was somehow flown around the stage while I embraced the thrill and wonder of becoming the boy from Neverland. As I revisited those memories, lines from the show — somehow still etched in my mind decades later — came rushing back to me. I found myself laughing at memories of classmates who brought those beloved characters of Peter Pan to life: the smarmy Captain Hook, the doe-eyed Wendy, the protective Nana, Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, the Pirates, and so many more. And so, with great joy, we invite you to join us this summer and let your imagination take flight as our students read and bring to life J.M. Barrie’s timeless adventure, Peter Pan."
